Marcella Papandrea of our sister site KillerFilm.com was lucky enough to talk with the geektastic Norman Reedus. Check it out below.

Norman Reedus will be in Adelaide, Australia for the very first OZ Comic Con show (ozcomiccon.com) which will run from March 31st – April 1st. He was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to talk to Killer Film!

Marcella Papandrea: First off congratulations on the success of The Walking Dead, and especially with your character of Daryl who was an original creation and quickly became a fan favourite. How much input did you have in the development of your character, if any?

Norman Reedus: Hey, thank you. I had quite a bit actually, the writers on the show were kind enough to have me in the writers room starting with the second season. They asked me questions, “how does Daryl feel about this, and what do you think he really thinks about Andrea or Glenn etc. .” I was given the opportunity to sort of help plan out the storyline with him where we wanted him to go and so forth. They allowed me to plant little seeds that eventually, hopefully turn in to story lines or parts of story lines. Read more…

Every nerd on the planet has dreamed about traveling to another planet, and any geek worth their weight in plutonium knows that in order to do that scientists need to conquer the beast known as Warp Drive. Star Trek is more than a movie to us movie geeks, and it’s legacy will someday be the theoretical science that most of its story lines are based on. When humans finally figure out a way to explore the vastness that is the universe, they’ll need to figure out a way to do it outside confinements of time. Space explorers don’t want to come home from a super awesome mission only to find all of their family and friends dead, so Warp Drive is the solution that all geeks want to become a reality. Unfortunately, it seems we are still a ways off from said reality. Researchers from the University of Sydney crunched some numbers and came up with some interesting, and scary findings. So, head over to Universe Today to read the whole story, and don’t worry, I have faith that someday in the not so distant future, a nerd will come forth with the solution and bring the dream of Warp Drive technology to life.

There has been, and continues to this day, to be no mention by any national media outlet of the most severe penalty ever handed down by the NCAA. In 1973

There has been, and continues to this day, to be no mention by any national media outlet of the most severe penalty ever handed down by the NCAA. In 1973 the University of Southwestern Louisiana’s basketball program was placed on probation for two years. Along with basketball, all sports received four years probation from post season participation and a nationwide television black-out.

Even former head of the NCAA committee on infractions, Walter Beyers writes in reference to his feelings towards a 1952 decision handed down to the University of Kentucky; “…faintness of heart prevented imposition of such a heavy punishment on any big name Division 1-A university.” Strangely enough Walter Byers was fully in charge of the investigation at USL and aware of the result of his efforts. Yet makes no mention of it on any of the 423 pages of his own book. Why is this?

This story must be told. This is about a university that peacefully integrated nearly a decade before anyone else in the deep south. This is a story about an outsider named Beryl Shipley who dared to stand up to the deep south’s views of segregation in athletics. It’s about a team that played like champions and had the book thrown at them by the institutions who wrote them. It’s about an organization that based it’s case on hearsay from un-creditable men with axes to grind, and ran with it. This is about telling the nation what really happened in Lafayette, LA. This is about what it means to be a RAGIN CAJUN!
